Be proud, be yourself!

Welcome to Oxnard LGBTQ+ Community! A safe space for the LGBTQ+ community and allies.

Who are we?

Oxnard LGBTQ+ Community

We are an organization of LGBTQ+ people whose goal is to create safe and affirming spaces for the community, whether in person or virtual. Our organization was created in 2012 by two LGBTQ+ youth from Oxnard, because they saw that there were no safe, diverse and local places for LGBTQ+ youth and decided to create them themselves.

In 2020, after a hiatus, Oxnard LGBTQ+ Community returned to support the "Black Lives Matter" movement and with the collaboration of local organizations and community members, we created the first annual LGBTQ+ Pride Parade and Festival to celebrate and advocate for LGBTQ+ people of color in OXNARD and surrounding areas.

Our organization continues to grow and develop more programs and events to support the community. For example, in 2022 we created the Spanish Parent Support Group and in 2024 we created the "Transition Mission" program that provides free clothing for the transgender or gender non-comforming community. Our vision is to continue evolving with the community.

What do we do?

Oxnard LGBTQ+

Pride Festival:

We are the main organizers and creators of the Oxnard LGBTQ+ Pride Festival that occurs every pride season in June, located in Downtown Oxnard at Plaza Park. We collaborate with different organizations and volunteers to create a space where we can celebrate the diversity of our community in a safe and welcoming enviroment.

Services for LGBTQ+ Youth and Parents:

We provide education and information for parents and loved ones of LGBTQ+ people. With the help of the Coalition for Family Harmony agency, we co-created a guide to provide basic information to everyone who wants to learn LGBTQ+ terminology,  history and more. We also have virtual support groups for parents and connect youth with mentors to support their journey.

Community Engagement:

We partner with organizations, agencies and community members to host events and activities for our community. Some examples are: "Transition Mission" clothing support Program, "Stitch and Bitch" meetups where creative queers meet and craft, Queeraoke singing events and more! Follow us on our social media pages for more information.
